1. www.daum.net- Good!!

Even though there a lot of images and texts, www.daum.net doesn’t’ look busy because it is divided image section and text section. People use Daum.net to read news articles and search information just like Google. As soon as I enter this website I can see search window at the top and news under it so daum.net didn’t forget its purpose. There are 3 big sections, and these contain smaller sections. This format makes this site looks organized. News section, the most important contents here, is placed in the middle section so it makes reader easier to jump right into main point. Also, articles are sorted by its contents, such as breaking news, celebrity news, or sports news, and theses are organized by navigation bar so it doesn’t take much of space. Photos are arrayed through vertical line or horizontal line and look almost connected to each other so readers’ focus cannot be loosen. As indicated above, the most important section is place in the middle. Addition to this, top of the middle section is more important than the bottom news. This also make possible to catch readers eyes. 90% 0f font color is black, and font sizes are all similar so advertisements pop out more so its good for companies who pay tones of money to advertise. Personally I don’t like the color of the navigation bar, saturated blue, but it is easy to find because of its strong color. There is a online shopping mall on the right section of this page. Using image is smart because people sometimes buy stuff without planning when they just see it.

2. www.soon.or.kr - Bad...

This website was made for people who study 21st century’s paradigm, but it looks like 1990’s website even though it says made in 2003. There are many reasons that make the website looks old. First, use of arbitrary colors makes it look old and armature. Banner, fonts, and images are all black, but some red and some green are used. Also, when I click buttons in navigation bar, words changes black to red with underline, and I don’t understand why the designer of the site matched red with black. I think designer might select the colors purposely, but I can’t figure it out. Font size is one more strange point. Bottom of this website, there is copyright section, and font size of this section is bigger than the body section’s. Also, there are three images with explanation on the right. I think these images are bitmap image so they are pixilated. If I were the designer of this site, I would change bitmap images to vector images. This would be more professional looking. Also, I would make these image bigger and place them in the center of this website without explanation, then people would be tempted to click the images to figure it out what it is.
